Many people who travel to Bulgaria already know of the more popular holliday resorts such as Sunny Beach, Nessebar, but just like 20 km away from Bourgas and 18 km from Nessebar is a little gem called Pomorie.
The town of Pomorie is situated on a peninsula in the north western part of the bay of Bourgas. Filled with history dateing back as ar 3rd 2nd centuries BC. There used to be a Thrucian settlement here colonised by the Greeks in later times. A colony of Metropolis of Messembria was founded here in the 5th century BC. The town was called Anhialo, and was named pomorie in 1934.
Pomorie's population today is about 15 000 who are earning their liveing by means of fishing as well as from production of salt and wine and of course Tourism.
Pomorie is the perfect place for the more relaxed holliday with lovely beaches, cafes and restorants both modern and traditional serving good food at good prices. In addition to this many people every year are visiting the healing mud of the salt lake which is unique for Europe, it has been proved the mud is good for bone and muscular disorders.
